John Haren writes from his extensive  life experience drawing on his professional work as a social worker and his travels in South East Asia, Europe,  and South America. John’s curiosity enables him to explore the human experience in a way that reflects a hopeful view of the world. Whether it be creating a novel, or writing an opinion piece, John pushes the boundaries of our perception of what it is to be human. His characters emerge as fellow travellers in probing the human condition, prompting  his readers to reimagine their own place in the world.

John was the first social worker employed by the nationally regarded agency addressing homelessness, the Hutt Street Centre. His undergraduate degree in Economics with a postgraduate degree in Social Administration. He has worked in all levels of government, local, state and federal as well as extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, including 8 years as Chief Executive Officer of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SA).

John lives in Adelaide, South Australia where he writes on many contemporary issues and is working on a range of creative writing projects spanning themes of social, political and spiritual significance . His wife, Anne,  and four children are involved in a range of pursuits including political activism, sport, refugee support, finance, and human resource management.
